MacKenzie Scott and Jeff Bezos met in 1992 while working at D. E. Shaw in Manhattan, and they married in 1993. In 1994 they moved to Seattle where Bezos founded Amazon, MacKenzie was an early contributor and later pursued a writing and philanthropic career. They had four children together: three sons and an adopted daughter from China. After 25 years of marriage they announced their divorce in January 2019, which was finalized the same year.
