Prince Edward and Sophie Rhys-Jones first crossed paths in 1987 when Sophie worked at a public relations firm with links to Capital Radio, where Edward was a guest. They reconnected in the early 1990s and began dating in 1993. Edward proposed during a holiday in the Bahamas in December 1998, and they married on 19 June 1999 at St George's Chapel, Windsor Castle. The couple have two children: Lady Louise Mountbatten-Windsor (born 2003) and James, Viscount Severn (born 2007), and in 2023 were elevated to the titles of Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh.
