Charles and Diana first met in November 1977 at Althorp, Diana's family home, when Charles was visiting as the companion of her elder sister. He began courting her in 1980 and they became engaged in February 1981, marrying on 29 July 1981 at St Paul's Cathedral. They had two sons, William (born 1982) and Harry (born 1984). Their marriage was publicly troubled; they separated in 1992 and divorced in 1996.
